　　阿拉伯文 Alkhwarizmi 原意是来自 (al-) 花剌子模 (Khwarizmi) 的意思。花剌子模指的是中亚阿姆河流域一带，现属于 Turkman 与 Uzbek 两共和国，以 Khiva 为中心都市。Alkhwarizmi 离开了家乡，前往当时的学问中心巴格达，服务於回教势力极盛的 al-Mamun 及 al-MutaAiw 宫廷。
